I have to preface this by pointing out the obvious: this is not a complete list of sapphic romances out in 2025. It’s nowhere close. For one thing, I’m looking at upcoming releases, which means I’m not counting books that already came out in 2025, like The Relationship Mechanic by Karmen Lee. I’m also only mentioning adult romances, not sapphic YA romance. None of these are published after June, since we’ll be learning more about Fall releases later in the year. But even setting all of that aside, this is a fraction of the new sapphic romance books out this year—just the ones I think you should have on your radar. I’ll be sharing more in months to come.
This list includes F/F romances as well as a few F/NB (nonbinary) romances. They’re mostly contemporary, but there are a couple of historical romances thrown in, too. As for tropes, there are friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, and two different takes on second-chance romance. There are new books by big names in sapphic romance, like Ashley Herring Blake’s newest, as well as authors who are writing adult sapphic romance for the first time, like Jasmine Guillory.
Also, it has to be said that cartoon covers have a stranglehold on queer romance just as much as straight romance, at least when it comes to traditional publishers. (I like to think ours are better, though.)
Without further ado, let’s get into some of the best new sapphic romance books out in 2025!
![]() Flirting Lessons by Jasmine Guillory (April 8)A queer romance from Jasmine Guillory? What have we done to deserve this good fortune? The brilliant mind of Jasmine Guillory who brought us The Wedding Date, The Proposal, Party of Two, and Royal Holiday, is back with a new contemporary romance about a series of flirting lessons that soon turn into something more. Now if that doesn’t sound like the perfect premise for a romance novel, I don’t know what does. —Rachel Brittain |
![]() My Best Friend’s Honeymoon by Meryl Wilsner (April 29)The author of Mistakes Were Made, Something to Talk About, and Cleat Cute is back with a new queer romance, this time with a nonbinary love interest! Elsie has been engaged to her college boyfriend for a year when she learns he’s planned their wedding and honeymoon, and it’s happening in a week. Surprise! That’s the wake-up call she needed to realize she never wanted this marriage, and now she’s off to that non-refundable Caribbean honeymoon with her best friend, Ginny. Ginny has been in love with her for more than a decade, and they make Elsie a deal to encourage her to speak up for herself more: for this week, Elsie can have anything she asks for. Ginny just wasn’t expecting Elsie to ask for them. As you’d expect from that magnificent cover, this one is spicy! |
![]() Kiss Me, Maybe by Gabriella Gamez (April 29)I have to admit that this book got put on my radar for the absolutely gorgeous cover. Luckily, the story inside is also right up my alley. It follows Angela Gutierrez, a librarian who goes viral for a video talking about being a late bloomer and asexual. Now, she’s putting on a scavenger hunt where the winner gets to be her first kiss. She’s getting help from her unrequited crush, Krystal Ramirez. But the more time they spend together, the more Angela begins to hope that the kiss might come from Krystal instead. This looks absolutely adorable, and I’m a sucker for a sapphic romance with a librarian main character. |

![]() The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet by Lindz McLeod (April 29)This one is for the sapphic Austenites! This takes place four years after the end of Pride and Prejudice, and Mr. Collins has just died, leaving Charlotte a young widow. She writes to Lizzie for help, but she’s surprised to find Mary Bennet arriving on her doorstep instead. Lizzie’s sister has changed a lot since Charlotte last saw her, including developing an interest in botany and devoting herself to academic pursuits. The more time they spend together, the closer they become, but when a new suitor arrives in her life, Charlotte has to decide between the safe choice or something entirely new. |
![]() Dream On, Ramona Riley by Ashley Herring Blake (May 13)I adore Ashley Herring Blake’s sapphic rom-coms, so you know anytime I see she has a new book coming out, it’s going directly onto my TBR. In Dream On, Ramona Riley, a small-town waitress who’s given up on her dreams of becoming a costume designer finds a possible second chance when a Hollywood film comes to town. Unfortunately, the lead actress also happens to be the first woman she ever kissed. Ramona remembers Dylan. Too bad Dylan doesn’t seem to remember her. The fact that Dylan’s now shadowing her at the restaurant to prepare for her role means there’s no getting away from each other or the instant chemistry between them. —Rachel Brittain |
![]() Love in Focus by Lyla Lee (May 27)You might recognize Lyla Lee’s name from her sapphic YA novels I’ll Be the One and Flip the Script, and now she’s making her adult debut with this second chance sapphic romcom. Gemma Cho is a bisexual advice columnist whose boyfriend of seven years just broke up with her—the latest in a series of disastrous relationships with men and women. She’s ready to throw in the towel until she’s matched with renowned photographer Celeste Min for an article on modern love. It’s a fantastic career opportunity, and Gemma could easily fall for Celeste…because she already has. They’re exes. Can they keep their relationship platonic? And if not, can she trust Celeste not to break her heart again? |
![]() A Rare Find by Joanna Lowell (June 10)Last year, Joanna Lowell’s A Shore Thing was released, a charming Victorian historical romance with a nonbinary main character. Now, she’s back with another nonbinary historical romance. Elfreda has just discovered proof that Vikings camped on her family estate—only to have her childhood enemy Georgie lose the amulet that was her ticket to getting her archaeological dig approved. Now, they have to team up to find evidence of Viking treasure—with Georgie demanding a generous payout. But as these competing archaeologists are forced to work together, it becomes harder to deny the sparks flying between them. |
![]() Bed and Breakup by Susie Dumond (June 24)Breakups don’t always mean the end of the relationship forever. That’s why second-chance romances exist! Exes Molly and Robin opened up a bed and breakfast, having no idea it would be the thing that would tear them apart. Seven years after their breakup, Molly and Robin are ready to fix the antique inn up, sell it, and be out of each other’s hair once and for all. But their efforts to restore the place to its former glory also remind them of why they fixed it up in the first place. And why they once fell in love. —Emily Martin (Psst, Susie Dumond is also a writer for Book Riot! Talk about multi-talented.) |
